Bindi Irwin, an Australian wildlife activist, recently spoke out about her health issues.
On March 7th, the 24-year-old disclosed in an Instagram post that she had received a diagnosis of endometriosis.
A condition where cells similar to the lining of the uterus grow outside of the uterus.
According to the Mayo Clinic, endometriosis affects the pelvic tissue and may extend to the ovaries and fallopian tubes, potentially leading to damage to the bladder and intestines.
“Dear Friends,
I have struggled for an extended period contemplating whether to disclose this journey in such a public forum. Ultimately, I felt a sense of duty to share my experience with other women who may be in need of support.” She composed this message and shared a photograph of herself in a hospital bed.
Irwin recounted her experiences with pain over the last decade, revealing that it took numerous tests, physician visits, and scans before she was able to identify the root cause of her discomfort.
She also shared that some doctors had initially dismissed her symptoms.
