Heidi Klum, 51, and Her Daughter Leni, 20, Face Criticism for Their Lingerie Photoshoot

Heidi Klum, and her daughter Leni, are no strangers to the spotlight. But their latest lingerie photoshoot has certainly caused quite a stir.

The mother-daughter duo recently teamed up for a campaign with the Italian clothing brand Intimissimi. They showcased their modeling skills in a series of playful yet bold photos.

The pair posed together on a plush couch in coordinated bra-and-underwear sets in a clip shared on Instagram. In the video, the two laughed, spun around, and even took turns photographing each other. They embodied the carefree and confident vibe of the shoot.

While Heidi, a longtime supermodel, disabled comments on her Instagram post of the campaign, her daughter Leni left hers open. Netizens wasted no time sharing their thoughts. However, not everyone was applauding the mother-daughter collaboration.

“Quite strange to do this with your mum,” one user remarked, with others echoing similar sentiments. “This is kinda weird,” another commenter chimed in. A third user called the photo shoot “inappropriate” and questioned the dynamic of “mother and daughter filming each other in lingerie.”

The critiques didn’t stop there. Another particularly harsh comment directed at Heidi read, “What’s wrong with you??? The idea of me and my daughter fooling around in lace underwear and me filming her… it’s really messed up!!”

Others labeled the campaign “disturbing” and unsettling, raising eyebrows about the boundary-pushing concept. Despite the backlash, Heidi and Leni have remained silent, letting the campaign speak for itself.

As more comments rolled in, one person questioned the campaign, saying it didn’t work for them and asking, “Who dresses up in lingerie with their mom and prances around taking pictures?” Another expressed that “Heidi needs to back off her kids career[sic]” and suggested she model separately to remain relevant.

On the flip side, some saw the positive in the campaign. One supportive commenter wrote, “BEAUTIFUL😍👏.” The person added that they didn’t understand why it was weird and saw it as simply “a mother and daughter who are like best friends❤️😍”

This isn’t the first time Heidi and Leni have modeled for Intimissimi. Back in 2023, they teamed up for another intimate photoshoot. At the time, the “AGT” judge shared the photo on Instagram promoting the ad campaign.

She wrote in her caption: “Our new @intimissimiofficial campaign! Find my mom and I on billboards all over Germany and tag us if you see it!! Explore the new collection now online and in all Intimissimi stores.”

Rocking a white lacy lingerie set with beads, Leni clasped hands with her mother, who wore a purple set courtesy of the lingerie brand. However, the photo didn’t sit right with some of the fans. “I would not be proud to show my daughter off in this way. I would feel embarrassed and sad,” a commenter said.

But other fans raved over the duo. “You and your mom look absolutely gorgeous,” one user wrote, while another said, “Genetics jackpot.”

Leni Klum landed her breakthrough modeling stint when she graced the cover of Vogue Germany alongside her mother. She recalled the moment as “such a good day,” especially working alongside her mother. “It was just so many things to be excited about,” she added.

Back in June, Leni became a hot topic of discussion after grabbing attention while on a family trip in Italy. Embracing the serenity and excitement of being on a fabulous family getaway, Leni was a vision in a colorful bikini.

Keeping things fashionable, she paired her two-piece with chic black sunglasses and a trendy necklace and styled her dark locks into a messy bun.

Joining the young model on the rise was her boyfriend, Aris Rachevsky, who wore blue board shorts and accessorized with a gold necklace. In some snaps, he was seen listening to some tunes, plugging his earphones into one of his ears.

Several images shared online show the duo, who have reportedly been dating for about three years, being affectionate with each other. At one point, Aris appeared to be taking pictures of his girlfriend as she posed on a beach rock.

Apart from Aris, Leni was also joined by her mom, Heidi, and her stepfather (Heidi’s husband), Tom Kaulitz. Matching her daughter’s beach day vibe, Heidi, who felt particularly free at one point, also wore sunglasses and a bikini, hers being dark in color and decorated with floral patterns.

Public reaction to the pictures shared online of the family’s beach day during their Sardinia vacation caused an online commotion. Most people were unimpressed, to say the least, by Leni’s appearance and actions with her boyfriend. “May I suggest the bikini is too tiny,” wrote a Facebooker.

Another chimed in with, “Certainly doesn’t behave very classy.” Disagreeing with an article headline calling Leni curvy, a social media user remarked, “Straight body no curves.” Someone else who thought that Leni looked like her biological father, Flavio Briatore, asserted, “She resembles her dad.”

A particularly opinionated commenter that came to Leni’s defense, wrote, “If You’ve Got It Why Not Flaunt It? She Is Absolutely Gorgeous ❤️.” Speaking about Heidi and Leni, another Facebooker stated, “Like mother like daughter…”

When it comes to the aforementioned comment about the mother and daughter sharing a likeness, Heidi and Leni are similar in more ways than one. Following her mom’s career footsteps, the 20-year-old has already started modeling.

In 2021, Heidi boasted about Leni’s modeling debut at 16, where she was featured on the cover of German Vogue in December 2020. Of her daughter, she gushed, “She’s been doing fantastic. She’s been wanting to model for quite some time. And I finally said yes because she’s now old enough.”

Discussing her mother and watching her model for years when she was younger, Leni previously divulged, “I had grown up going to work with my mom.” She then reiterated, “Ever since 11 or 12 years old I’ve been begging her and then finally I turned 16 and she said that I could finally start modelling.”

Heidi Klum has also given some good advice to her daughter on the matter of modeling. “She’s always telling me I need to have fun… She’s always like bounce around have fun, be energetic, be excited,” Leni shared in a past interview.
